Hey Good Lookin’

Hey Good Lookin’

On this day (June 22) in 1951, Hank Williams Sr. released the upbeat song “Hey Good Lookin’.” The song was written by Hank—adapted from Cole Porter’s 1942 version—in 20 minutes as he flew on a plane with Little Jimmy Dickens, Minnie Pearl and Minnie’s husband, Henry Cannon.

Over the years many artists have covered the tune, including Johnny Cash, George Jones, Ray Charles and Waylon Jennings. Hank’s version of “Hey Good Lookin'” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. Here’s a throwback to Hank singing the song.
