Singer/songwriter/producer Bruce Robison has released more than 10 solo and collaborative albums since 1996, but the Texas native is still best known—at least outside of Texas—as the writer behind No. 1 tunes “Travelin’ Soldier (Dixie Chicks), “Wrapped” (George Strait) and “Angry All the Time (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill). And that’s just fine by Bruce, who, when he’s not in the studio recording and producing, tours extensively, often with his singer/songwriter wife, Kelly Willis.
Tapping into his talents on all fronts, Bruce is launching a new web series, The Next Waltz, on June 17. The multifaceted music delivery concept features top country talents recording new songs and telling stories. Think of Jerry Seinfeld’s web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but with country folk.
The first installment features singer/songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker (“Mr. Bojangles”), while upcoming episodes will profile Rodney Crowell, Jack Ingram, Sam Outlaw and Turnpike Troubadours. Each episode will include a newly recorded song, a short music video and an interview with the guest at Bruce’s Country Bunker recording studio, as well as other elements like podcasts, blogs and playlists. The new songs will be available for purchase via iTunes.
