On this day, May 8, 1993, Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Elvis Presley got his own 29-cent postage stamp. He was also born on May 8, 1935. Personally, I wish they had put “old” (some said “fat”) Elvis on the stamp instead of “young” Elvis. But the fans voted and the U.S. Post Office obliged. Ballot
