American Idol 2016: Tristan Goes Home, Trent Brings JLo to Tears, MacKenzie Owns

Tristan McIntosh Goes Out Singing Martina McBride’s “Independence Day”

Aw man, there goes our last country artist!

Unfortunately, Tristan McIntosh was voted off tonight. I gotta be honest, I totally agree with the judges. She just has some growing up to do, but no doubt, she can be a star!

Farewell Tristan, we’ll miss you . . . but we’ll see you soon!

Here’s the thing though . . . I still think that there is some country living in Trent Harmon.

Trent Harmon’s Stunning “Simple Man”

He’s covered Stapleton and a few others, and I think we would all welcome him with open arms!

Even though his performance of “Simple Man” was AH-MAZING, and I wanted to cry when he had that emotional moment with JLo admitting how much he missed his mom (girls everywhere swooned) . . .

Trent isn’t my pick this week.

I’m back at home base with my early pick to win it all . . . MacKenzie Bourg.

MacKenzie Bourg

GUYS! Both of his performances—“Billie Jean” and “Wild World”—were RIDICULOUS (in a good way). And I’m just gonna say it . . . that was my favorite American Idol Michael Jackson cover, ever.

Seriously, I’m buying it, and I’m going to lay by the pool and tan while listening to it on repeat this summer.

BTW—it’s been like 75 degrees here in Nashville this week, and I’ve already bypassed spring in my head, so yes, my SUMMER playlist!

Oh! And I’ll leave you this week with a little behind the scenes action.

La’Porsha Renae: What Vocal Strain?

Nash Nights Live talked with Idol mentor Scott Borchetta on Wednesday, and he said that La’Porsha wasn’t taking very good care of her voice, and that this week it had gotten worse.

Turns out, not even vocal strain can stop that girl! She did great!

The Final Top 5
