American Idol 2016: The Going Gets Tough as Solo Rounds Begin

Wow! I never really realized how intense the Hollywood week “Solo Rounds” are. Performers thrive on feedback, and the judges aren’t allowed to give any during this round. Ugh, I felt for the contestants. But then again, once they make it to live shows – the national audience can be a lot more harsh than silent judges.

I was a little bit disappointed with the featured country acts, they were good, but nothing really stood out.

Luckily, most of them made it through, including everyone’s favorite secluded country girl Jeneve.

(BTW – just try and tell me she doesn’t have the stance of Yosemite Sam when she’s singing, and just try to tell me you don’t absolutely love it)

But sorry y’all, my Wednesday pick is not country.

Dalton Rapattoni – Yeah, I watched “Grease Live” on Sunday, and maybe I watched it two or five more times on my DVR. So one might suggest I’m on a “Grease” kick. I’d like to say my pick isn’t biased, but you decide. I loved Dalton’s take on “Hopelessly Devoted.”

Even though he “didn’t remember it”, you could tell the judges were loving it, too.

We’ll be seeing more of him tomorrow night when the top 24 are finally announced!!

P.S. How devastating was that moment between Lee Jean and Sara Sturm?! She friend-zoned him so fast. Brings back a lot of memories.

Here’s a GIF so we’ll never forget that teenage struggle 😉
