Getting to Know The Cadillac Three

Getting to Know The Cadillac Three

Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Jaren Johnston, bassist/Dobroist/guitarist Kelby Ray and drummer Neil Mason, The Cadillac Three sat down with Nash Country Weekly to get serious about The Brady Bunch, cereal and the food that makes them gag. So get to know The Cadillac Three a little better.

Back when you were a kid, what was your favorite cereal to eat for breakfast?

Jaren Johnston:  Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

JJ: Corey Haim . . . I’m kidding. I actually had a Nirvana poster.

Do y’all have nicknames for one another, and if so, what are they?

JJ: Starbuckle.
KR: Grumpy. Stinky. Sweaty . . . it really depends on the day.
NM: Head.

Who was the last famous person to text you?

KR: Jaren [laughs]. Actually, [ZZ Top’s] Billy Gibbons just texted me.

What is your favorite pre-show drink?

NM: Whiskey.
KR: Beer.
JJ: These days, I’ve been going with Tito’s [vodka] and Red Bull.

Any stage mishaps lately?

JJ: The worst thing is when you get a little too drunk onstage and it’s a 90-minute set and you are halfway through and I will be looking back at Neil going “Wrap it up!” and come to find out we still have an hour and a half left to play! It gets brutal.

Who is the last person you said “I love you” to?

JJ: Neil . . . this morning [laughs].
KR: My girlfriend.
JJ: No really . . . my wife.

Y’all talk about love at first sight in your single “White Lightning.” Who so far in your life has been your love at first sight?

JJ: That would have to be my wife. “White Lightning” is just a redneck take on love at first sight.
